Good Coach or Outstanding Players? I think people are getting the big picture. Coach Rod isn't even close to being the best coach
ever. If it were not for the players he would be nothing. It took him 5 years to get what he got at WVU.
He got Lucky. Face it... Here is a repost of an earlier Blog of mine. Read it... Friday,
December 21, 2007 (re-post) What is Mountaineer Football? Too
often over the past few years we have credited Coach Rod with the success of the WVU football program.
We need to think about that for a bit. Coach Rod got lucky! Adam Bednarik gets hurt and Hocus-Pocus....Pat
White is now the QB and he is awesome. Steve Slaton has a good game. Where did these guys come from? If
Coach Rod was as great as we have given him credit for, then why weren't Pat and Steve already starting
each game? Coach Rod got lucky. Not taking anything away from White and Slaton, the fact is,
they are both awesome. But, if it weren't for ONE game where the starting QB got hurt, who knows if we would
have ever known the name Pat White. We may have never seen the dynamic duo in action. As unlucky as
it was for Adam Bedarik, it was even more lucky for Coach Rod. We need to keep the players in mind.
That's who makes up a team. Not the coach! I say all of that to say this. Don Nehlen
is the best coach to ever coach the Mountaineers. He wasn't worried about his stature among man. He was concerned
for the team and the state of WV. If it were not for Nehlen, there would be no Mountaineer football as we know it today.
If it were not for one young man's career ending injury, Coach Rod wouldn't look so perfect.
As for Adam Bednarik, I think he was a great QB. I feel he should have had more playing time once he healed.
Perhaps he could have done much better things that Jarrett Brown. But, there again the Great
Coach Rod was the decision maker. So Mountaineer football "is a heck of a lot bigger than Rich Rodriguez."
As Mr. Nehlen put it during a meeting with the team this week.

Racial slurs, MLK and Jesus Over the next 7-8 months we will all have a lot of questions and concerns regarding the new head football coach for
WVU. The only thing we can do is sit and wait and see. Coach Stewart deserves the job. There may be recruiting
issues but he will overcome. There has already been talk about his dealings at VMI. Coach Stewart resigned after
allegations of a racial slur. You can read for yourself the article under the "Headlines" section. This
was an unfortunate incident that was blown out of proportion. As many racial incidents are. If you read the article
you will see that Coach Stewart was simply trying to help the player keep a good image. The player was "show-boating
and hot-doggin" and Coach Stewart simply took him aside (no one else around) and coached him about it. Too
many times today it seems that "racial slurs" are a common way to get someone in trouble. I think minority
groups need to realize that not everything is about them. The whole world is not out to get them. I love all people.
No matter race, color, religion, etc... It is obvious that the statement by Mr. Rodney King, "...can't
we all just get along", was taken to mean a little more like, ...you all better worship us or we are gonna
get you fired from your, coaching job, tv job, radio job, yada. Well, I am proud of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
for all of the things he did to help the African Americans. He is a hero. He wanted equality. That was attained.
However, folks like Malcom X, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have taken it too for. We are equal, but they seem to think
certain people should be more than equal. Martin Luther King Jr. would be so unhappy. People,
can't we just take each other for what we are worth. The bible says that Jesus came to seek and save that which
is lost. That is everyone. The favorite verse of sporting events: John 3:16 For God so loved THE WORLD that
he gave his only son... The "world" means everybody. No one is more important to God than anyone else.
So, why do we as human beings try to make ourselves something that even God did not attempt. Red, Yellow, Black, White,
are colors. We are people. Let's all come together for the good of the world.
OK, that is my rant.
Not everything a white guy says concerning a minority is meant to be hurtful and visa-versa. Though there are some that
are meant for just that. However, it works both ways. In conclusion it is my belief that Coach Stewart
did nothing wrong, illegal, or immoral during the incident at VMI.

Bill Stewart, Head Coach of West Virginia FootballWell, WVU has chosen the best candidate for the job. Bill Stewart was named head coach after a 20 point victory over
the #3 Oklahoma Sooners in the 2008 Fiesta Bowl. I do not believe that the administration had a choice. The players
were sold on the position going to Stewart. I agree. Coach Stewart deserves the job. He is a great
guy who will keep the pride in WVU football, win or lose. We will have to see about recruiting, may be a slow
start but, I know Coach Stu will make it work. I bet there are a few good men who wish they would have taken the job
earlier.

Well There Ya Have It!!!! Easy as 1, Stu, 3It seems that everything went just fine without Coach Rod. Not only did Coach Stewart take what
Coach Rod left behind but, he revamped it and made it better. Which brings up the question: Did
we even need Coach Rod for the last 7 years??? I want to comment on all the players who did absolutely awesome but,
I have not the space. So, I will just say; Way To Go Guys. Thanks for making us proud.
Now a
message for Mr. Garrison and Eddie: Did you hear the team leader (#5) tell you who to hire? I think you have no
choice. The team responded well to Coach Stu's coaching. AND, did you see his sideline demeanor??? It
was superb. Coach Rod never had a sideline so excited. Coach Stu was polite, he was not arrogant and
it was obvious that the players enjoyed having him control the sidelines. POINT???? My point is the players want him,
the fans want him and he deserves it. Let's be honest, Coach Rod really never fit into West
Virginia Football. WV Football is more like Don Nehlen. Coach Stu is WV Football. What will you decide?
Mr. Garrison, I am not sure you care much about Mountaineer Football but, you still have a chance to set the bar. If
it's not Coach Stewart, you had better make sure you have a good reason, you had better get the right guy AND you
better give Coach Stu the recognition he deserves. OH Yeah! and you had better give him a contract to protect
him from being fired.
Thank you so much to the whole football team. Thank you to Coach Magee for hanging
around. Thanks to all of the FANS for sticking with them, and thank you COACH STEWART for making history and starting
a legacy.
Oh! One more thing, THANKS COACH ROD for leaving!!!!!

Blame it on us, Coach Rod????Well If you were like me and tuned in to the Michigan/Florida just to see Michigan lose, you saw Coach Rod
on the sidelines, in the broadcaster's booth and all while being decorated in Maize and Blue. Coach
Rod said he was surprised to hear about the lawsuit against him. WVU filed a lawsuit last week in order to force Coach
Rod to pay the $4 million buyout that he refuses to pay. Coach Rod said he heard about it on the news.
Ha! How's it feel Coach? If you would have just kept your word, there may not have to be
a lawsuit, RICHARD....and what is this I hear? You say you can't believe how the fans reacted to your leaving. Get
a clue Coach. You deserve the treatment you are getting from the Mountaineer LOYAL... Ok enough
about him... Tomorrow is the big day. Tomorrow we need to all support OUR team as they compete in the biggest game
of most of their careers. Oklahoma is a respectable team that can be beat. I know the Mountaineers can win.
I can't wait to shove it in the face (in a christian manner) of all the skeptics when WVU brings home the Fiesta Bowl
trophy.
